Interview with Kasabian
By Jessica

Kasabian are one
of the freshest-sounding bands to come out of the U.K. in a long while.
And it’s not just me who recognizes this – there are legions of big
fans-in-the-making who are filling clubs to behold the spectacle of the
band, based solely off the strength of their single “Club Foot.”
AvoidPeril had the chance to ask lead singer Tom Meighan a few questions
about Kasabian’s touring experiences so far, their influences, and their
love for touring mates The Music.
1. What type of audience is [debut album] Kasabian aimed at?
Anyone who feels the vibe.
2. What are your favorite tracks from Kasabian?
The whole thing.
3. Who are some of the artists that have influenced your musical style
the most?
The Who, Vangelis, MC5, Tangerine Dream, funk music, and anything that
makes our feet tap.
4. What has been the highlight of your career so far? Have you been
able to meet any of your favorite musicians?
Brixton Academy in London selling out at the end of last year; it was
incredible, and doing this thing we always wanted to do.
5. You’ve been touring almost nonstop for about a year now. Have your
live shows changed? Have you been debuting any new material, or working
mostly with the songs off Kasabian?
We have played a shitload of shows, but we are a tight unit. We are
unstoppable. At the minute the only track that's not on the album we play
live is "55."
6. What are you listening to on your tour bus these days?
Willy Mason and The Who.
7. Out of all the places/festivals where the band has played, which
venue/show is your favorite?
Irving Plaza, New York.
8. What can concertgoers expect from your live show? Are you excited to
be touring with The Music?
We are great fans of The Music and it's great to be on tour with the band.
Expect a great fucking show--no fashion, nothing hip, just full on.
